Following recent images posted by Reddit user boddhya of a Cybertruck accident, the California Highway Patrol confirmed responding to a collision on SR 35 (Skyline Boulevard). This incident, involving a 2023 Tesla Cybertruck and a 2009 Toyota Corolla, occurred south of Page Mill Road in Palo Alto at approximately 2:05 PM local time. Despite concerns surrounding Cybertruck’s design and safety following its delivery event, fortunately, no major injuries were reported in this particular crash.

The preliminary report from CHP indicates that the Toyota Corolla veered off course, hitting a dirt embankment before colliding with the Tesla Cybertruck on the opposite lane. The only reported injury was a suspected minor injury to the Cybertruck driver, who declined medical assistance. Notably, the Tesla was not operating in autonomous mode during the accident, which took place under cloudy and wet weather conditions.

Though the Corolla sustained significant front-end damage, the Cybertruck appeared to fare better, with side-curtain airbags deployed. The absence of certain markings on the Cybertruck leaves room for speculation on its model type. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

In addition, dashcam footage capturing the aftermath of the accident has been shared on YouTube. For more exclusive deals on tested products, sign up for Verge Deals and receive weekly updates directly to your inbox.
