Accidents

An unfortunate incident on Florida’s Turnpike in Southwest Miami-Dade led to a major traffic disruption on Saturday night. NBC6’s cameras captured a somber scene, with what appeared to be a covered body under a yellow tarp. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) later confirmed that two crashes occurred as a result of an initial collision between a white SUV and a gray sedan in the southbound lanes near Bird Road. This collision left both vehicles disabled and partially blocking the left lane, prompting the occupants to exit their vehicles. Tragically, while they were standing outside, an oncoming pickup truck collided with the sedan, resulting in the death of one individual at the scene and critical injuries to another. The identities of those involved have not yet been released.

In response to the incident, the Turnpike was shut down for a thorough investigation, diverting traffic onto SW 8 Street. This is an ongoing development, and updates can be found on NBC6. For further details, you can also refer to the source article.
