Laredo Police Investigate Fatal Accident at Lyon Street and Frost Street
The Laredo Police Department is currently investigating a tragic accident that occurred on Tuesday night, June 18th, at the intersection of Lyon Street and Frost Street. The incident involved Vicente Gaytan, 76, who was struck by a U-Haul van with a trailer while crossing the street around 6:50 p.m.
According to reports, Gaytan attempted to cross between the van and trailer while the U-Haul was stopped at a red light. Tragically, when the light turned green, the van began moving, dragging Gaytan for approximately six blocks. The U-Haul van and trailer were later located at a rental business on San Dario, with the driver identified through rental records and cooperating with authorities.
While no charges have been filed yet, part of the incident was captured on video, aiding in the ongoing investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Gaytan during this difficult time.
