Tragic Accident Claims Life of Woman on SR-78 in Ramona
A somber incident unfolded on State Route-78 in Ramona on Tuesday evening, resulting in the tragic death of a 39-year-old woman. The driver was traveling eastbound when the vehicle veered off near Earlham Street, leading to a fatal crash into a preschool playground. Cal Fire Public Information Officer Brent Pascua detailed the sequence of events, with the car losing control, colliding with a tree, rolling down an embankment, and ultimately flipping onto its roof against the preschool fence.
Despite the swift response from emergency services, the driver, who was the sole occupant, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The preschool identified as Thomsen Learning Center, fortunately had no children or staff present during the evening incident, as confirmed by Director Nicolle Daniels.
