Tragic Incident: Fatal Accident Involving Garbage Truck in Centre County

In a devastating incident on Wednesday, one life was lost in a garbage truck accident in Centre County, as reported by state police at Rockview. The victim, Nathen R. Kerstetter, 38, of Milesburg, tragically lost his life in Port Matilda under harrowing circumstances.

According to the police, Kerstetter was hanging off the back of the truck when the driver unintentionally backed into a tree on North Main Street. The impact of this collision proved fatal for Kerstetter, with Centre County Deputy Coroner J.D. Kubalak pronouncing him dead at the scene. The response teams from Port Matilda EMS and Port Matilda Fire Company promptly arrived to attend to the situation.

At the time of the accident, Kerstetter and others were employees of Newman Hill Inc., based in Milesburg. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has initiated an investigation into this tragic incident, although further details are pending as the inquiry proceeds.
