Truck Driver Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter Charges Following Fatal Accident

Roy Ellis Holcomb Jr. has admitted guilt to four counts of manslaughter after a tragic incident resulting in the loss of a grandmother, two grandchildren, and another adult. The plea was entered before Judge Buddie Hahn in the 260th District Court on Friday morning.

The devastating multi-vehicle accident occurred on October 1, 2014 on Interstate 10 near Vidor, with Holcomb being cited for failure to control speed on the day of the collision. His 18-wheeler rear-ended another truck, triggering a chain reaction that led to the fatalities of Glenda Blackwell, 62, her grandchildren, and Luis Alonso Rodriguez Camacho from Mexico. Remarkably, Holcomb escaped injury in the accident.

Following the hearing, Holcomb refrained from making a statement to the press and proceeded to the probation office for paperwork, having been out on bond since November 4, 2015. His sentencing is scheduled for September 29 at 2 p.m.
